An elderly Woman sits in the cold
pleading to God up above
please Lord I am so Old
and I have no Gloves
No fire to warm me
no one to hold and care for me
Oh Lord what can I, one do
When will I go home
this place is so cruel
I am tired of roaming
how can I know what's true
The old Woman then looked over
and there sitting in a corner
was a young child and her Mother
the child had no shoes
they had no food
Her heart ached
she could not believe what she saw
then from her pocket she took
her prized wedding ring wrapped in lace
What beautiful memories that ring held
a mans love it did hold
tears streamed down her now rosy cheeks
forever in her heart she will keep
the mate she loved who is buried so deep
The prayer within her soul did change
to one of pleading for that little child
Lord I am so sorry this I will say
So humbly and so mild
Lord give that little girl
A safe shelter overhead
please do this for this old pearl
so she may sleep in a warm bed
She is so young and lovely
please do this ever so kindly
Bless the Mother to find thee
bless them both for me
No sooner then when she finished her prayer
did a young gent happen to be there
he did not see the old woman in the cold
as he lifted the child in a tight hold
He took them to his home
gave them a roof overhead
gave them soup and bread
then gave them both a warm bed
The old lady still sat in the corner
never did they ever know her
But now her lips no longer part
the ring lay next to her pulseless heart
